What is the Practical ECG Series?

It is a free online ECG teaching series which is specifically designed keeping the needs of Emergency Physicians in mind. The aim of the series is to help develop strong fundamentals in ECG interpretation for those clinicians who are interested in developing their ECG skills beyond pattern recognition. 

• Each session is designed keeping 2 core principles in mind - a concept based approach to ECGs with a focus on practical applications in day to day clinical practice.

• The series consists of around 8-10 sessions, by the end of which all the important topics required for senior level ECG interpretation will be covered. 

• Practical ECG Series is intended to provide an in depth review of all important ECG topics - starting from the very basic concepts  and then going into the finer nuances of complex ECGs. So these sessions would be recommended for delegates who wishes to understand certain difficult topics & to clear up longstanding doubts. 

• Each session will be independent to other sessions and there will not be any continuity - that is to say, you will not have to worry about missing other sessions. 

• Towards the end of most sessions, some random Practice ECGs will be discussed.

Who would benefit from attending 'Practical ECG Series'?

• Anyone who interprets ECGs on a regular basis. In my experience, it is most useful for delegates who have been interpreting ECGs regularly atleast for the past 1-2 years. While the series starts from the basics, you need to have a basic familiarity with ECGs & the common patterns in order to benefit from the ECG series. The first step to learning ECG interpretation is pattern recognition & this is something that can only be developed by repeated interpretation of ECGs.

The sessions are broadly as follows:

• Basics of ECG interpretation - (Basic Concepts, Electrical Axis & Deflections)

• Blocks (BBBs, Hemiblocks, Fascicular Blocks)

• ACS & Mimics

• AV Blocks

• Tachyarrhythmias

• Bradyarrhythmias

• Miscellaneous Part 1

• Miscellaneous Part  2

• Pacemaker ECGs
